Letter, 1846 September 8, Win. and Potomac Railroad Co [Verso] Harpers Ferry National Historical Park; National Park Service A sheet of off-white paper from the upper right corner of a larger sheet,faintly ruled in blue. The obverse contains in black ink a statement, attested as a copy by WM. L. Bent clk., that the board of directors, W and P Railroad, September 8, 1846, authorized the president to dispose of excess land at Harpers Ferry formerly owned by Guildea. The reverse contains in black ink- order/authorizing the sale of /real property at H.F./a copy. Paper is creased by several horizontal and vertical folds. Some stains.

Letter, 1859 April 7, M.A. Smith (Baltimore) to Mr. Burton (Harpers Ferry) Harpers Ferry National Historical Park; National Park Service A sheet of laid paper ruled with blue lines and folded in half containing a letter dated April 7,(18)59 from M.A. Smith, Baltimore to Mr. Burton requesting him to forward goods from Harpers Ferry to Cumberland. A postscript continues on the second page. The document has been spindled leaving a hole near the center of each half. The paper is in poor condition, the front and back pages are very soiled and stained. Salvaged from building 14, Burton's Jewelry Store when it was dismantled

Eisenbrandt to Mr. Burton dated January 27 1859, transmitting bill for articles ordered. Refers to shipping by express vs mail, e strings (?) at $.75 and tailpieces. Written in ink on laid paper lightly lined in blue. A vertical streak to right of center is composed of closely spaced light and dark lines, probably from screen.

Letter, 1859 January 27, Canfield Brothers Company, A. K. Schiebler to Mr. A. Burton Harpers Ferry National Historical Park; National Park Service From Canfield Bros. Co. per A. K. Schiebler to Mr. A. Burton dated January 27, 1859 (?), notifying that a pane of glass had been shipped. Written in ink on a single sheet of originally white paper faintly marked by vertical and horizontal lines into 1/4" squares. Embossed cartouche in the upper left corner consists of the word quadrille within a reopentined oval.

Letter, 1880 July 31, Thomas A. Morre (Charlestown, W.VA) Harpers Ferry National Historical Park; National Park Service A sheet of off-white paper printed in black with the letterhead-county court of Jefferson County, WV. Thomas A. Moore, clerk. It contains a longhand letter in ink now brown, stating that Moore has examined the index to deeds and the judgment lien docket and found no deeds of trust given by child and Mccreight except one to A. Hunter, trustee for A.H. Herr, not released, and one to W.H. Travers, trustee for Rowland, which has been. Paper is watermarked- original/turkey linen. It has several folds.

Letter, 1884 October 29, Solicitor Robinson to George Dittmeyer Harpers Ferry National Historical Park; National Park Service Sheet of writing paper ruled with blue horizontal lines not extending to the left edge and beginning below the letterhead printed in purple ink-department of justice, office of the solicitor of the treasury, Washington, DC_____,188__. The letter written in black ink is dated October 29, 1884 and directed from acting solicitor Robinson to George Dittmeyer, Harpers Ferry, transmits certificates for signiture. see cat. #8233, 8235-8238. creased by folds, short tears.

The reverse contains the address in pencil- Miss Marmion/(undecipherable word), indicating the letter was hand delivered rather than mailed. The reverse has 3 arithmetic calculations in ink, a flowing signature ink parallel to the left edge may be -crane and breed mnfg. the document is intact, some- what yellowed and soiled on the reverse.

Letter, 1893 July 22, Joseph Trapnell (Charles Town, W.VA.) to Thomas H. Savery [Recto] Harpers Ferry National Historical Park; National Park Service A sheet of plain blue paper, apparently originally from a pad, with letterhead printed in black- law office of Joseph Trapnell, Charles Town, WV. It contains a letter written in black in transmitting papers relating to the title to land on Virginius Island. The paper is creased by 3 horizontal folds. The center panel of the reverse has in ink- Mr. Savery. Some of the padding compound from the top edge has adhered to the reverse along the lower crease.

Savery Harpers Ferry National Historical Park; National Park Service A sheet of laid off-white paper beating the letterhead of Marvel and Marvel, attorneys at law, and containing a typewritten notice of the release of harpers ferry paper company Deed of Trust, June 30, 1888, held by security trust and safe deposit company, also asking return of blue print from Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. 10 3/8" high x 8 3/16" wide (269 x 208 mm).

Military pass to town, order of Captain E. J. Magruder Harpers Ferry National Historical Park; National Park Service Slip of bluish laid paper ruled with blue lines comprising one end torn from a longer sheet. Inscribed in pencil-pass privates hargrove, Smith and Kaufman to town until 7 1/2 oclock/by order of/Captain E. J. Magruder. The inscription also identifies the Rome light guards and gives the date-June 14th. Paper is creased by 3 vertical folds. The left and right ends of the paper are stained, particular the reverse of the right end where the paper has broken at one point across a fold

Military pass, March 1863 Harpers Ferry National Historical Park; National Park Service Slip of off-white paper ruled with blue lines, comprising a portion torn from the corner of a larger sheet and boldly inscribed in black ink, dated Harpers Ferry, VA March 15, 1863 and signed by Martin Rouzer/Capt and Provost Marshal to pass John Ditmire(?) through the lines and return. Paper has been creased by one horizontal and 3 vertical folds. The document has separated almost completely along the horizontal fold. The left and lower edges have short tears with minor losses.
