This photograph was taken at the entrance to Mammoth Cave. This photograph shows the cave entrance(taken from inside) looking out - the photo was taken in winter and shows snow and large ice formations at the entrance; the left side of the entrance has a single row of stone steps leading into the cave. This is a glass negative for a black and white photograph. There are not any inscriptions. Condition: good - there are minor scratches on the glass negative. Measurements: height 254 mm, width: 202 mm. thickness: 2 mm. The original blue 10-254 lists this as a gift from Ellis Jones on 14 Dec, 1981. Originally housed gsu c, sh 4 with maca 3608-3645, 3724-3743, 3746-3749, 3872-3888, 3903. Caves, geology, trails, clothing and dress, lighting , lanterns, tourist trade.
