The 8 inch siege mortars, the Coehorn and the Navy howitzers and Requa, at the left of the 4th parallel will open fire on the ridge at 5 3/4 o'clock P.M. The 8 in. [inch] directing their fire rather to the seaward end of the ridge, and being careful to cut their fuses of such length that our men in the 4th parallel will not be injured. The pieces on the left will fire so as to enfilade the reverse of the ridge as much as possible.
