Transcriptionearth increased during the night if necessary.  The interior of the Magazine to be examined at the same time in order to ascertain if the floor be damp, or timber works giving evidences of failing.  Entrances to be kept revetted and in good condition for ingress and egress.  2nd.  All the Defensive and Offensive batteries are to be examined twice in each time of duty and inquiries made of their commanders as to their condition.  And all injuuries wear and defects to platforms, embrasures, revetting, parapets, and traverses are to be thoroughly and promptly repaired.  3rd.  The musketry parapet in the 2nd and 3rd Parallel and the approaches.  When they are for defense, must be kept in good defensive condition "ie"-trench free from obstructions and ten feet wide, banquet at least two feet wide and smooth.  Breast height revetted 4' 6" high.  [Interior?] slope smooth and having a slope of 1 to 10 outside.  4th.  A material obstacle consisting of inclined palisading, abatis, wire-entanglement and floating booms extends along the front of the 2nd Parallel from low water on the right to the west side of the creek on the left.
