Transcription1st. The shot strikes the gorge of Fort Sumter 10 [degrees] nearer a perpendicular hence the wall would be about [????] inches therein; 2nd. This position cannot be reached by the guns on Sumter's South East Face at all; 3rd. This position enfilades this S.E. [Southeast] face 10 [degrees] more favorably than the Right position; 4th. [In?] case the Enemy make an assault and break through our 2nd Parallel, and are checked near the Beacon House-This Gun would be safer from spiking on the left than Right.
