Brooks; A.D.C. and Asst [Assistant] Engr [Engineer]; Summary; The detachment was divided [thus?]; A Squad for making Gabions consisted of two engineers and four infantry who made seven gabions 3 feet long and 2 feet in diameter per day. A squad for making facines consisted of two engineers and nine infantry who made 12 facines 18 feet long or 16 of the shorter lengths or 24 sap faggots pr [per] day. A squad for making sap rollers consisted of two engineers and eight infantry who made two sap roller gabions 9 feet by 64 feet in diameter in three days. The engineers only were [instructed?] in their duty. Each squad got out its own material which was [????]. 28 gabions from 8 to 72 [????] make a load for one [????] team.
