From 1934 to 1938 Lester Maynar Moe worked as a Junior Forester for the National Park Service obtaining panoramic photographs from existing and proposed fire lookout towers. This was a continuation of work Moe began in 1933 as an enrollee with the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) attached to the U.S. Forest Service. Of the 200 images Moe created for the National Park Service, 99 of them were made in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Learn more about Moe's panoramas here.
