Portrait of unidentified young man wearing a coat, vest, and hat Harpers Ferry National Historical Park Tintype of a young man dressed in a coat, vest, white shirt, wide bow tie, and a visor type cap setting ona slight left angle on his head. His hair is cropped and bushy and covers the major portion of his ears. Bold colored tin framing measuring 1 3/8 x 1 5/8 inches embossed with flower and leaf design with a small star on each corner of the frame. The framing has an oval-shape cut out in the center which sets over the tintype, framing the individual. The tin frame folds around the tintype.

Letter, 1893 July 22, Joseph Trapnell (Charles Town, W.VA.) to Thomas H. Savery [Recto] Harpers Ferry National Historical Park; National Park Service A sheet of plain blue paper, apparently originally from a pad, with letterhead printed in black- law office of Joseph Trapnell, Charles Town, WV. It contains a letter written in black in transmitting papers relating to the title to land on Virginius Island. The paper is creased by 3 horizontal folds. The center panel of the reverse has in ink- Mr. Savery. Some of the padding compound from the top edge has adhered to the reverse along the lower crease.
