View from downstream showing the butts of logs projecting between the cross logs. These butts may be the ends of logs or of whole trees. Frequently whole trees were used in constructing these dams. The branches (limbs) were placed upstream and covered with earth and stone then anchoring the dam. The division dam is to the left of the main dam. The water from the dam is used in running the Cable Mill.
