Hauling out a museum specimen, from Reems Creek, Buncombe County. Has been banded to prevent splitting, Tulip tree, 1937 Great Smoky Mountains National Park Hauling out a museum specimen, from Reems Creek, Buncombe County. This is an unusually large Curly poplar. This section was cut out of the tree at a point 49' from the ground, and measured 15' 9 (with bark on) in circumference. Slab is 16 thick.
