Affidavit, regarding horse sold Harpers Ferry National Historical Park; National Park Service Slip of laid white paper ruled in blue cut from the mid section of a larger sheet and inscribed in ink on both sides. 1 side dated Halltown, VA February 16, 1864 certifies that a member of the 1st VA batty light arty has sold to Dittmeier a grey mare which was his own property. The signature undecipherable, is in another handwriting. The opposite side carries the certification by the captain of battery a that the horse does not belong to the battery. Below is a statement in German. stained, creased, many fine holes.

Receipt paid by George Dittemeyer to Joseph Byrne, November 29 1841 Harpers Ferry National Historical Park; National Park Service Slip of off-white paper ruled with light blue lines containing in originally black ink a long hand receipt for $1.50 paid by George Dittemeyer to Joseph Byrne for Anderson and Byrne dated November 29 1841. The left edge of the paper is that of the original sheet. The document is lightly creased by 8 vertical folds. Widespread light brown staining and moderate soiling at the right end. This was in a government envelope marked hfd-42/ Cassandra Dittmeyer. cat. #'s 8256-8259 were also in the envelope
