Through the Years, page 3 South Carolina State Parks Civilian Conservation Corps Project Superintendents; This photograph taken at a meeting at Greenwood State Park in 1938 shows the men who were the forerunners of our park superintendents. These men supervised the development of the roads, buildings, and utilities for our first parks. Although the primary job of these men was construction and conservation work, they established many of the operational procedures that we use today.

Through the Years, page 1 South Carolina State Parks This book is an attempt to organize some of the many photographs stored in the office files. Here are some of the men whose work over the years has made South Carolina's Parks what they are today. Many park superintendents of bygone years are not in this book, and conspicuous in their absence are the park rangers who literally left their "blood, sweat, and tears" in the park soil.
