TranscriptionGenl. Order No. 7; Dated Hd. Qtr. [Headquarters] Morris Isle; July 17th 1863; Organization of Engineer Depot. [Order] (Second Series) Department of the South. HEADQUARTERS IN THE FIELD. MORRIS ISLAND, S. C. [South Carolina], July 17, 1863. GENERAL ORDERS No. 7. I. A depot at which to collect, manufacture, preserve and distribute engineer tco's and material, will be immediately established at the south end of Morris Island, to be in charge of Capt. CRUSO, Company "H," New York Vol. Engineers. II. At this depot will immediately be collected, classified and inventoried all the tools and material not now in use on Morris and Folly Islands, which material and tools will be furnished for the siege works on the order of Assistant Engineers at all times, day and night. III. Tools will be kept constantly in repair and order. Engineer material, such as Facines, Gabions, Magazine Frames, Platform Stuff, andc., will be manufactured at suitable points, and kept constantly at the depot. IV. Quartermasters will furnish such transportation as may be necessary for the work. V. The necessary officers and men for this duty will be furnished from the Regiment of Vol. Engineers. VI. Officers having such tools and material on hand not in use, (except such as they have given regular receipts for.) will turn them over to Captain CRUSO. BY ORDER OF BRIG. [Brigadier] GEN.
