Letter to Brooks from Eaton reporting the number of large and small torpedoes he has seen at Ft. Wagner. Eaton writes that Wilcken can provide a more definite account. Eaton also reports that he thinks the firing would have been called "Moderate" compared with that against the approaches during the siege.
Transcription[Letter] Camp Vol. [Volunteer] Engrs. [Engineers] (Detachment); Morris [Isle?] S. C. [South Carolina]; Dec [December] 11th 1863; Major T. B. Brooks; A. D. C.; Dear Major; [illegible] two [illegible] of 8th [illegible] and answer, I beg your pardon for the delay and wish I could give the required information. The Torpedoes [illegible] will [illegible] before I was put on duty at Wagner, I have seen 8 or 10 of the large ones only, and five or six of the small ones with the [illegible]. Lt. Wilkin [Wilcken] can give you more a definite account. I have not been able to find a [illegible]. In regard to "Heavy" [illegible] and other [illegible] firing, I think it nearly all would have been called "Moderate" compaired with that against the approaches during the siege, and as twice in my reports I have called it "slight" when
