Transcription[Letter, continued] Two carts are under control of Corp. [Corporal] Crane. One to transport officers to and from the work, the other to move material about the trenches. 5. Five teams just now under control of Capt. [Captain] Walker for the transportation of Gabions are used for the transportation of Engineer Material from the Depot to the front. 6. Written reports for each tour of duty are made by the Officers in charge and a journal of the work is kept in my office. 7. Artificers Lorrigan and Buckland N.Y. [New York] Vol. [Volunteer] Engrs. [Engineers] have made the Surveys and drawings necessary to record and progress the work. 8. Enclosed please find written Instructions for the government of officer in charge of work, which now might be advantageously changed in several [particulars?]. Trusting I will soon again before duty. I remain; Very Respectfully Your Obt [Obedient] Servt.
