Transcription[Letter] [Both edges of paper are damaged. Some words are cut off] Morris Island S. C. [South Carolina]; Augst [August] 29 1863; Capt. [Captain] T. B. Brooks; Asst. [Assistant] Engr. [Engineer] Dept [Department] South; Sir; I have the honor to Submit the following plan for the [????] of Forts Gregg and Wagner. [????] now in the 30th day of Aug [August] open one [????] 300 pdr, and 4,100 pdrs in the left [????] at Fort Johnson. The fire to cease as [????] command of the Chief of Artillery. And be turned on Fort Gregg, in the mean time the 2, 10" Sea Coast mortars in the left [????] in the Batteries to the left of Johnson (all other guns [silent?] while the left guns are operating as above collect in the 2nd parallel "a hope" (I ignore the [????] consisting of 250 men Officered (Brooks, [????], Wilson), with [????] the fire from the left to cease from the moment we leave the old Chimney landing and every available gun on the right and one 200 pdr (Capt [Captain] Shaw) and the 7 30 pdrs on the left open, on the left with solid shot.
