Transformer bank on left belonging to CBNC showing R.E.A. power llines across the west bank of the Little Big Horn River to highway U.S. 87. Power line take-off is 2785 feet from pumphouses. Metering equipment is on transformer pole. To the right of the dotted line shows the 71/2 acres of land claimed by Mr. Weibert. Feb. 1, 1944. 44-5; YELL200112-592 "Wild Life at Custer Battlefield" About 15 pintail grouse between the flower bed and the hedge. We have about 40 of these birds in the cemetery proper. They very seldom leave thecemetery proper. During a heavy wind or snowstorm, these birds fly into the juniper trees and nest there during the storm. Also during extreme coldweather. It is believed they stay within the cemetery proper to escape coyotes.October 30, 1943. 43-28
