[December] 22nd 1863; Dear Major; [????] yesterday uncovered a number of sand-bags in the old Batteries on the left-and from them the dimensions you required were as follows. Average Length 25" [????] " [Average] Width 10" [????] " [Average] Thickness 5 1/2 " [????] The average weight of several trials was 88 lbs. Sand taken one foot below the dry surface and [????] about the average [????] 7' of water. Very Respectfully;
