Slip of white paper ruled in blue, torn from the corner of a larger sheet and inscribed in ink. Dated October 16 or 18 1862 and signed by a Provost Marshal. It states that a black horse sold to a citizen of Bolivar was the property of Patrick (last name undecipherable) who therefore had the right to sell it. Reverse bears an undecipherable entry in another handwriting dated October 17, 1862. Paper has stains, creases and tears. Paper was in a government envelope marked hfd-42. along with cat nos. 8255-56,8258-59.
