Transcription[Letter, continued] 7; Lieutenant C.L. Wilcken had entire charge of building the Splinter and bombproof shelters in the Second Parallel. After completing this work he was engaged on the sap. Lieutenant Farrand and Wilcken were more days on duty under my orders than any other engineer officers. Lieutenant E.N.K. Talcott assisted Lieutenant Farrand in the operations above enumerated and chiefly superintended the construction of Batteries Rosecrans and Meade. He has given valuable aid in preparing this report.  Lieutenant J.S. Baldwin superintended the construction of the left batteries used in the first bombardment of Fort Wagner. His services since on the right have been valuable. Lieutenant P. McGuire built the first emplacement for a breaching gun against Fort Sumter. He was on duty a few days in the approaches and superintended the construction of a 10 inch Seacoast mortar battery. Lieutenant Charles B. Parsons was one of the four officers detailed for and employed on sapping duty. Capt. [Captain] [F.] H. Crusoe [Cruso] and Lieut. [Lieutenant] R.W. Coe were constantly on duty in the Engineer Depot.
