TranscriptionTuesday August 25th 1863; One of the 200 pdrs. (Parrott Rifle) whilst being fired this morning, burst, part of the breach falling 125 feet in the rear. Three engineers were killed today on the Right. At 3 o'c this afternoon a brisk fire was kept on the fort (Wagner) until about 7 o'c when it was found about impossible to drive the enemy back from the ridge, so after several useless attempts we were repulsed, the enemy still occupying the disputed ground. The following copy of the evg's [evening's?] operations will more fully explain the matter; Copy Official "Memoranda"; An attempt will be made this afternoon to drive the enemy out, from the ridge in front of our 4th Parallel: to accomplish which the following disposition will be made, and measures taken. The three Coehorns will be removed to the extreme left of the 4th parallel, in a place to be prepared for them by the Engineers.
