Completed an approach from the 4th parallel to the 5th.; 2nd. Formed Rebel rifle pit into Union Breastwk. [Breastwork]; 3rd. Excavated the ground, for a battery in 5th parallel.; Detail 12 Engrs. [Engineers] and 75 Infantry.; Two men (infantry) were shot today on the beach between 1st and 2nd Parallels by the rebel sharpshooter supposed to be stationed on Fort Wagner.
