[Lieutenant] Farrand went on duty in the 2nd Parallel this day at 4 o'c P.M. and previous to 12 o'c Midnight finished the following work. 1st. Placing abatis in front of beach battery; 2nd. The traverse in front of 200 pdr. battery; 3rd. Repairing the embrasures, 5 Engrs. [Engineers] and 6 Infty. [Infantry]; 4th. Laying the platform for Napoleon Gun; At 11 o'c P.M. 20 Infty. [Infantry] were sent to Asst. [Assistant?] Capt. [Captain] Suess in the Sap; Continued Work; 1st. Laying platforms for Napoleon Gun; 2nd. Building Traverse in light battery; 3rd. Increasing height, and thickness of Epaulement of left 100 pdr. battery; 4th. repairing embrasures and Walkers approach; Detail 16 Engrs. [Engineers] 75 Infantry; Lieut. [Lieutenant] Adams went on duty at 8 o'c A.M. and left at 4 o'c P.M.; 1st. Repairing Splinter proofs in approaches to 3rd Parallel; 2nd. Repairing embrasures of 100 pdr. battery
