Descriptive InformationZoltan Rozsnyai directs the Knoxville Chamber Orchestra at ceremony for Natural Heritage Registry. Certificates of Natural Heritage Registry were presented to Great Smoky Mountains National Park by the States of NC and Tenn. 2 Sept. 1982. Ceremony had been planned for Newfound Gap, but weather conditions made it necessary to move the event to the Gatlinburg Civic Auditorium. Great Smoky Mountains Natinoal Park has long been recognized for its ecological diversity, its geological diversity, its mountainous terrain, and its large expanses of virgin forests. These natural values have led both the States of North Carolina and Tennessee to describe large natural areas of the Park for inclusion in their Natural Heritage Registries. The ceremony here today formalizes those registrations. From the Program at the Ceremony.Natural Heritage Registry, III-D-18606, History - Dedications
