VA. The postage stamp is missing. Envelope is embossed on the left edge of the opening under the flap-woodward and lothrop./ Washington. Paper is stained and soiled. Deterioration has broken the paper in one dark stain on the flap. This was probably in hfd-48.

Paper is discolored and smudged in spots and generally soiled. Item was salvaged from building 14, Burton's Jewelry Store, when the store was dismantled.

The writer requests delivery of his gold hunting case watch to William Dinsmore. Document is torn in half along a center vertical fold and a third fragment has separated from the torn edge. Numerous tears and soiling. Note:hfd-45 was a # assigned by park staff indicating Harpers Ferry document file. Pulled and cataloged into the museum collection with acc. #329.

The inscription also identifies the Rome light guards and gives the date-June 14th. Paper is creased by 3 vertical folds.
