For some time its skin has been fashionably used in the manufacture of bags, shoes, etc., and with this increasing use they had been hunted until they were almost extinct. To remedy this situation and supply the demand, several thriving Alligator farms re now in operation, where the breeding and care of alligators is the main industry."
