This photograph was taken in the Corkscrew which is above the "River Hall" section of Mammoth Cave. This photograph shows two sets of wooden steps located between several; large boulders inside of Mammoth Cave - there is a man standing between the steps and is holding an open flame lantern; the man has a hat on and is wearing a neck tie. There is not any kind of title or inscription on this photograph. Condition: fair. Measurements: height 253 mm, width: 202 mm. thickness: 2 mmthe original blue 10-254 lists this as a gift from Ellis Jones on 14 Dec, 1981. Originally housed gsu c, sh 4 with maca 3608-3645, 3724-3743, 3746-3749, 3872-3888, 3903. Caves, geology, trails, clothing and dress, lighting , lanterns, tourist trade.
Cave interior with graffiti, ladder, Corkscrew, Mammoth Cave, Kentucky Mammoth Cave National Park Black and white glass slide with black tape framing the glass edges and binding them together. Glass negative is covered with a clear piece of glass on emulsion side. Caption: Mammoth Cave and vicinity. 34 the corkscrew (near middle), copyrighted and for sale by H. C. Ganter, Mam. Cave handwritten white tag in lower right corner: 385 gold line border backing glass cracked caves this is part of the Cutliff collection.
