Old wooden bridge across the Bottomless Pit, Mammoth Cave, Kentucky, 1890 Mammoth Cave National Park Photograph -bridge over bottomless pit (glass negative) glass negative-bridge over bottomless pit - Mammoth Cave, Kentucky -- this glass negative that was taken by an unknown photographer; locality is unknown circa 1890. Taken at the bottomless pit in Mammoth Cave. Glass negative shows the old wooden bridge across the bottomless pit - this photo shows six upright supports and a cable extending from the far end (serves as a railing) the pit itself can not be seen. There is an inscription in the center of the bottom of the photo"copyright(89) by ganter and darnell"measurements: height 202 mm, width: 254 mm. thickness: 1.5 mm. Condition: good. The original blue 10-254 lists this as a gift from Ellis Jones on 14 Dec, 1981. Originally housed gsu c, sh 4 with maca 3608-3645, 3724-3743, 3746-3749, 3872-3888, 3903. Caves, tourist trade, trails.

Cave handwritten white tag in lower right corner: 382 gold double line border caves this is part of the Cutliff collection.
