Site of fire, Elkmont, Tennessee, 1975Great Smoky Mountains National ParkFour Cottages burned to the ground early Friday, Nov. 28, 1975. The fire started sometime after mid-night. J.T. Higdon, the caretaker, had made his patrol about 11:30 P.M. The burned cottages were discovered by Ray ownby, Elkmont resident, shortly before 8 A.M. Cottages were owned by Mrs. H.T.
